What is Animax®? Animax is a combination prescription topical medication used to treat inflammatory skin and ear disorders caused by bacterial or yeast infections. Who is it for? Animax is a combination prescription medication containing nystatin, neomycin, thiostrepton and triamcinolone. Nystatin is an antifungal, effective against many types of yeast. Neomycin and thiostrepton are antibiotics. Triamcinolone is a corticosteroid, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-itch properties. The combination is used to treat skin and ear disorders caused by bacterial or yeast infections. Is there a generic equivalent available? Animax is a branded generic equivalent of Panolog. How is it given? Animax is an ointment applied onto the skin or ear. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. Follow treatment instructions carefully, since incorrect treatment can result in recurring infections and damage to the ear. The area should be clean and dry before application.
